Hey there! Are you feeling a little overwhelmed lately? Maybe you've been hustling hard at work or dealing with some personal stuff that's been taking a toll on your mental health. Whatever it is, it's okay to feel that way! We all have days where we need a little extra care and attention, and that's exactly what I want to talk about today - taking time for mental and physical self-care.
First things first, let's define what self-care means. Self-care is any activity or practice we do intentionally to care for our physical, emotional, and mental well-being. This can range from taking a bubble bath to going for a run or meditating. Self-care looks different for everyone, so finding what works best for you is important.
Now, I know what you might be thinking - "I don't have time for self-care." Trust me, I've been there. But here's the thing: self-care doesn't have to take up a lot of time. It can be as simple as taking a few deep breaths (though we should be aiming for 10 diaphragmatic breaths per day), going for a quick walk, or even just taking a few minutes to stretch.
When it comes to physical self-care, it's important to listen to your body. This means getting enough sleep, staying hydrated, and nourishing your body with healthy foods. It also means moving your body in a way that feels good to you - whether that's going to the gym or taking a yoga class. This is the thing I struggle with most and why Spring and Summer see a lot more movement and self-care gardening!
Mental self-care is just as important as physical self-care. This can include things like practicing mindfulness, journaling, or talking to a therapist. It's important to give your brain a break from the constant stimulation of work and social media and allow yourself to just be in the present moment.
Remember, self-care isn't selfish. It's essential for our overall health and well-being. So the next time you're feeling overwhelmed or stressed, take a step back and ask yourself - what do I need right now? Whether it's a long bubble bath with Epsom salts or a quick walk, make sure to prioritize your mental and physical self-care. Your mind and body will thank you for it!
If you need extra help with planning regular self-care, come check out my monthly Zen Den Self-Care session. It is 60 minutes every month where myself and my cousin Sara and our special guests take you through some mindfulness, affirmations, simple activities for self-care you can repeat at home, a mindful movement session to help you rest, a guided botanical facial with facial massage and meditation.
It costs just £15/€18 and you receive a Zen pack with the products you need for the night in the post. Booking is essential and must be booked at least 1 week ahead to allow for posting.
If you are already an Arbonne Skincare Client of mine you will already have a 6-month pass to attend ZenDen each month for free.
